AR 1216-07-27 Fifth day of planning jail break in Kleine
Zen spent the day on the lake with in the ship “Buggsie”. He helps with the training and talks two of them into coming to Silverbriar with them to train some more. Captain Moose says he can get by with two less without letting it be known they are gone. The two have no families yet. Their names are:
Paul Kemp (26)
Rickie Kemp (23) Brother to Paul
She spent time with Marrianne to help her with tending the shop so she could concentrating on the bombs that the group had asked for. At one point in the day, she stops over to pick up the shoes she commissioned.
Wolf talks the elder Coddell into coming with them with the promise of something to ride as he just cannot walk that far anymore. They trade more stories with Coddell finally trusting Wolf with the information to the special cave he has been hinting about. One that he believes would have been strong enough to not collapse as it was a bit from the epicenter of the earthquake. But close enough that it could be used to re-establish the Thunder Rift Clan again, and was within the boundary of what the Thunder Rift Clan claim. The rest of the time until 4 pm, Wolf watches the judge’s house to try to understand the movement there. He finally figures out the best time to tell the group to have someone meet up with her in the open air market.

Rissa and Sardi work at the inn all day long until 4 pm break when they go to the temple. On the way Rissa stops to pick up her shoes that she commissioned she wants to look nice since she has heard that the Burgonmaster is coming to see her performance that night.
Krunch watches over the jail all day long getting a sense of timing and movement of troops and feeding times. He keeps a special watch on Nails movements until 4 pm.
Yari spends a lot of time at the temple, getting acquainted with running a temple from the High Priest who spends most of the day with him showing him the ropes so to speak. During that time he sends messages out to the goat herders and farmers warning them of all of the people who will be showing up in preparations for leaving.
The group sends gold with those they can to help them pay for food outside the city for the time away so as to not overtax those they will be staying with. Several other groups leave today and are able to get by the gates with no problem. They use multiple gates so as to not arouse suspicion.
The group including Zen, who got done early from fishing that day, gathers together at the temple for the last question. Sardi sits in the middle of them and cast the spell asking the important question:
Who of the people going with us are knowingly or unknowingly providing the Syndicate information or under Syndicate influence?
The fog forms again and this time, it almost solidifies into Anna. Her voice sends a chill down your spine:
“The rejected will betray you”
Then it evaporates into thin air as if it was never there.
Yari felt immediately that it had to be the acolyte Derrik who felt rejected. He found Father Hafborg and quizzed him. The high priest said he was concerned about Derrik so had assigned two priest to be with him until things were over. Finn and Elias Hummel, sons of his friend who died last year. They came back from Melinir about a year ago when his friend died. They usually had dinner in the pub “The Unicorn”.
The group quickly planned, Yari turned invisible and borrowed a broom. Franziska cast invisibility on Wolf and Rissa. Wolf would move at his extremely fast speed from roof top to roof top. Rissa took her broom. Krunch used his boots of flying. The rest stayed at the temple.
Rissa and Yari made it to the pub first. There they saw Derrik talking to two middle aged priest of Odin. They slipped in. Yari went close enough that he overheard Derrik start to say that he had thought about it and would tell them what he knew. At that point Yari started to speak to him in his mind telling not to tell them. This confused Derrik and he stumbled in his speech. Finn and Elias asked what was wrong and Derrik said he was hearing a voice in his head. They looked around but could see no one.
While that was going on Rissa followed the serving lady into the kitchen and then came out looking like her. She immediately went to the priest’s table and asked if they wanted anything to interrupt them from talking. Their talk about Derrik hearing voices made her realize Yari was talking to him and she thought she could save the day. So she cast charm on all three, but sadly only two took. Finn the older one brushed it off and soon after cast dispel magic on his brother when he started to get a glazed look in his eye.
Yari then appeared and told them they were to report to Father Hafborg immediately. They scoffed him off, and when Yari then told the room they were disobeying their superior, Finn announced to the room that this man was to be taken out.
Sadly, Rissa and Yari had been so focused on the priests that they had not noticed the room was filled with some pretty tough guys with weapons. Six of them stood up and drew their swords or crossbow looking threatening at Yari.
By now Wolf had slipped in unnoticed into the room and just shook his head how it had all gone south. He positioned himself in the best spot hoping to be able to help his friends when the fighting started.
Realizing they were outnumbered, Yari cast a spell at Elias but missed and then slipped out the door near him. Rissa pretended she was a scared waitress and withdrew to outside of the pub, from what was sure to be a nasty bar fight.
Krunch, having arrived and witnessing what had happened from outside the pub, crashed through the window, knocked out Derrik and flew away with him all without letting anyone stop him.
Finn sent the men after them, and Elias tried hold person spell on Krunch to no effect.
With minimal effort, Krunch got away with Wolf on his heals to make sure no one got to him.
Fin and Elias conferred and decided the gig was up. They called the men back and proceeded toward the temple gathering more and more of the syndicate men. Their hand had been shown, they were going to have to move now against Father Hafborg instead of later. So much for letting him retire gracefully, now he must die.
Seeing this, Yari and Krunch raced back to the temple and told them they needed to evacuate the temple NOW or die. There was too many coming for them to fight. They found a nearby sewer opening and proceeded to move toward the lake. They hit a few foolish wererats who do not last long.
Zen goes through the city gate instead of the sewer tunnels since he needs to have it noted he left the city.
Once out, most proceeded to the farm house while Yari meets with the six from the ships that want to go train with them. They all pass the Zone of Truth. Then they too head to the farm house.
Meanwhile, Rissa met back up with Sardi and Wolf at the Mute Otter. Wolf tells them what he saw that the temple was overrun. They need to stay to take care of customers and perform. Wolf heads over to the temple of Sif to warn them but it is too late. Wolf sees 6 bodies lying around. He recognizes High Priest Trevor and Acolyte Missel for sure. He then heads over to the temple of Clanggendin where it is peaceful. He finds High Priest Creb and lets him know what has occurred. Creb gathers his people and cast Zone of Truth and verifies that none of them have been corrupted by the syndicate. He warns his people to stay clear of the priest in the other two temples and why. He tells Wolf if any priest escaped the purge, they will take them in and hide them from the syndicate until they can hook back up with their group to go to the santuary the others are being taken too. Seeing Wolf follows Berronar, Creb takes him to a side chapel dedicated to the goodness Berronar and they pray for a safe passage for those fleeing from the syndicate. NOTE: Days later, the priest of Sif named Simba that was not part of the syndicate group, finds refuge in the temple of Clanggendin. He gets taken to Silverbriar in February during one of the trades of fighters to be trained.
Wolf leaves and heads back to Coddell’s until it is time to send Inuki for another walk about. He is sure the group will gather near the spot when it is time.
At the farm house Glinda contacts Franziska and tells her she has solved the problem and could open an Arcane Portal. Kind of a combination of Arcane Gate and Teleport Circle. Glinda explains she is a conjurer and teleportation is her specialty. So this is a new spell that uses existing teleport circles. It will only be open for 10 minutes and she only has one a day. She agrees to open it tonight.
Before the huge group leaves for the ruins, they decide to make sure the twelve priest and acolytes who they had rescued were on their side. Turns out six of them were secret members of Finn and Elias’s organization. Father Hafborg asked to stay with them to see if he could sway the six and Derrik back from their path. The group agreed and tied them up at the farm house. Where none of them could hear him, Father Halfborg told them he would connect up with the group in Beechhedge when he got done after they explained where to find the resistance group. Months later the group learned that the Father Halfborg was not successful with any of the priests. They believed they were doing Odin’s will by siding with the syndicate since it would cause more warriors to go to fight in Vahalla for Odin. So one by one, Father Hafborg give them a small knife and let them die in battle with him, so that in their words, they would be acceptable to Odin to fight in Vahalla, so some good came out of it. Derrik, who had not yet been indoctrinated, he was able to convince the group was wrong, and the two of them went to Beechhedge to help the resistance there.
Burgenmaster decides to not show for Rissa’s performance because of security concerns.
Everyone else went to the old ruins where Glinda opened up the Arcane Gate and they went through. Krunch, Yari, Franziska, and Zen stayed and went back to town once they were all through safely.
Members of the group get to the edge of the city and they travel the sewer to inside the city causing it to look like it is filled with ghosts to scare off the wererats and any other citizens in the dark. On the way back they decide on what spots they should set the bombs that Marianne has made if they are followed to collapse the sewers. This will be a last resort as it could cause unforeseen problems to the city above.
The group gathers at the Mute Otter
Once the bar closes at the Mute Otter, the group, meet up and help Inuki appear again as Fenris to walk the city, getting worse than the night before.
Rissa and Sardi head back to the Mute Otter to sleep.
Yari heads back to the Mute Otter with Rissa and Sardi to sleep, and Zen goes to the Mute otter for a room.
Krunch heads over to the temple of Clanggendin to get some rest.
Franziska, and Wolf slipped back into Coddell’s home with no problem to sleep. Wolf again summons Inuki to find out the how things were going in Elfheim, then the two sleep.
Zen sleeps at the Hollow Sword.
